• Historical Aerial Photography for Vermilion County, Illinois (From 1940):  This is an interesting resource I just found.  It has aerial maps of Vermilion County (well a lot of Illinois) from 1940.  Kind of like the satellite maps of today found on Google and such, but were taken by airplanes flying above and snapping pictures.  I will study these more when I have time, but I think I have already possible found a location of a cemetery which had been destroyed since the time the photo's had been taken.   [Express view browser Plug-in to view maps may be needed]

Subject: Upload photos?

Michael, I know what an undertaking this is for you. I timed my reading of St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Buckley (Iroquois) about 15 years ago, and it was 8 hours working time then to stop and read information into a recorder. Photographing would take much longer.
I have a FEW photographs taken then and earlier there, at Ash Grove and Immanuel Cissna Park. If would be interested in using those, I would be happy to send them. Just tell me how.

Subject: I'm Amazed

Michael I am amazed at this site. I just finished looking at the Oak Hill cemetary site where my dad, and both sets of grandparents are buried along with numerous friends of my parents. I visit my dad's grave quite often as well as my grandparents (Verhoeven and Harrier). This is great, how do you find the time?
