Cemetery Name: William - Fugate Cemetery

Also Known As: William Family Plot / William Cemetery / Fugate Cemetery

Location:  Blount Township, North-West of Danville

Approximate GPS Location 40.19609 -87.65747 (link to Google Map)

Description: William - Fugate Cemetery was located near present-day Short Road. In 1915 maps, there was a jog in the road where land on the south side belonged to a John Williams - and at this "jog" in the road was reportedly where burials and 4-5 stones. Below is a aerial photo from 1940 which still shows a jog in the road - BUT I'M NOT SURE IF THIS IS THE SAME JOG AS THE ONE FROM 1915. Today, there is still a slight bend in the road at that location.

Subject: Williams Family Burials

I have been unable to find this burial site myself but I do know three names of individuals that were supposedly buried there: Maria Ann Williams (1876-1876), Electra Ellis Williams (1881-1882) and John Clark Williams (1884-1885). They were the children of my great grandparents: John Williams and Nancy Emaline Cosat Williams. One grave was once marked by a "blue mason jar." I am unsure as to any others that were buried there. Thanks.
