Vermilion Grove Cemetery - Vermilion County Illinois

Cemetery Name: Vermilion Grove Cemetery

Location:  Elwood Township, North of Ridge Farm

GPS Location 39.92286 -87.65581 (link to Google Map)

Description:  Vermilion Grove Friends Church is still an active church, with the older section of the cemetery to the east of the church - and the newer section of the cemetery to the north of the church. In the summer of 1823, Hanna Mills was the first to be buried at the cemetery. To the west of the newer cemetery section was the location of the Vermilion Academy (1874-1932) that was established by the society of the friends "Quakers". The building was then used as an elementary school from 1932-1965. The building was dismantled in 1988, with the memorial & bell still memorialized at the location (with pictures in the picture section)

Pictures: I took pictures of EVERY stone in this cemetery in Sept 2008.

Subject: Church's address

What is the address for mail to the church? We appreciated the good meal provided by the
church women for the family of Donna Fox.

Thank you for providing this site. My mother and most of mother's family are buried here. I am most touched.
