Description: The exact location of this cemetery is not know, but it was approximately 1/2 mile east of Mount Vernon cemetery - on the north side of the road. Records show at least 8 burials from between 1830's to 1860's (possible earlier and later). A few of the listed as being buried here:

Joseph Davis - Sept 3, 1800 - Aug 25, 1839
Elizabeth Davis (wife of Joseph) - April 6, 1799 - Dec 31, 1869
Joseph Davis - d. Nov 1852
Isaac Davis - d. Sept 17, 1852

Subject: Old Davis Cemetery

We corresponded several months ago. My brother Ransom invested hundreds of hours trying to find some organization that would clean up and care for this cemetery, without success. I have a rather large notebook that I brought back from our summer home in upstate NY, with all the burials in the Old Davis Cemetery, his correspondence, etc. At that time it had become a pig lot. He even tried to buy the cemetery to preserve it, without success. I will be happy to xerox as much of this info as you would like, estimated about 100-150 sheets. Also, you may know of some way this, and the Hickman Cemetery, could be better preserved. These people were pioneers and deserve a decent burial place.
