Subject: Looking for grave of Thomas Heffron
My second great grandfather Thomas Heffron died in Danville, Piolet Twp, Feb 8th 1877. I am trying to locate his grave and find an obituary. I do have his estate records. I'm not sure which cemetery I should look. He may have been Catholic and died possibly during an epidemic. I have hit my brick wall. Any suggestions will be most appreciated. Thank you, Diana November 04, 2011 - 15:17
Subject: cemetary at Collison, IL
I grew up in the Potomac, IL area. Thel only cemetary I know south of Potomac and north of Collison is Knight's Branch. It's located at 2700 N, 630 E, Collison. My great, great grandparents are buried there. Someone takes very good care of it. It is back in a corn field. One of the area residents took us there. I can ask him if there is another cemetary close. February 02, 2013 - 11:00
Subject: collison cemetary
We lived in collison back in the late 70's early 80's. We lived in the oldest house in town that was owned by Absolom Collison. Way back behind the cow pasture, and field was a very very old cemetary with a wrought iron fence around it. We believed that the house was haunted, and also the cemetary because every time we left the cemetary we closed the gate, but every time we returned it was open. The graves there are mostly from the 1800's and most were unreadable, some of the graves that were readable were of many children that had died very young. Hope this info helps someone. Subject: Collison Cemetery
I was told by someone that grew up south and east of collison that the cemetery was south of road 2600 on the west side of the old railroad tracks. I think it is with in the triangel between the tracks,2600 and Potomac Road. I have been in most of the cemeteries. up that way but never in this one. I am looking for my g g grandparents some where up that way with no luck. James and Mary Duncan not the ones at Walnut Chap. I hope this info is right and helps you find this cemetery.
