Cemetery Name: Mount Vernon Cemetery

Location:  Catlin Township, West of Catlin

GPS Location:  40.06535 -87.7843 (link to Google Map)

Description:  The date on the sign says 1868, but some stones on the west side of the cemetery are dated in the 1840's & 50's. Cumberland Presbyterian Church once stood next to the cemetery, with the Sugar Grove School across the road.

Pictures: I took pictures of EVERY stone in this cemetery in May 2008. I revisted in September 2010 to take a few updated pictures & Video. In 2011, there was a cemetery care & restoration class held - and from there, there were a couple of others who have taken the project on, and have done a GREAT job in restoring many stones in this cemetery. So I have made multiple revisits to this cemetery in October 2011, November 2011, and April 2012. And I will plan to make more visits out there since there work has already raised stones in which are now pictures on this site.
