Cemetery Name: Mann's Family Plot

Location:  Ross Township, south of Rossville (North-West of Mann's Chapel)

GPS Location 40.33976 -87.66412 (link to Google Map)

Description:  Mann's Family Plot is located just north-west of Mann's Chapel Cemetery. It is on the west side of Route 1, about 250ft off the road - surrounded by a field (so with crops, it is impossible to see. As of 2008 (as the picture shows), the power pole goes right next to the cemetery and is a good way to spot it from the road.

Pictures: I actually visited this cemetery twice to take pictures of all the stones. The first time was in 2007, in which the weeds were tall and hard to get good pictures. In April 2008, the brush was cleared, so I took pictures of all the stones again - including a few that I could not see before. PLEASE NOTE: In some of the pictures you can see chalk on the stones - I DID NOT DO THIS VANDALISM. Some people believe rubbing foreign substance on a stone they don't own is OK, but it is just another form of vandalism.

Pictures #1 (2007): 23 pictures (23 on a page, 1 page)

Pictures #2 (2008): 152 pictures (50 on a page, 4 pages)

Subject: Mann family, family plot, and grave location inquiry

I found your website through newspaper article regarding Illinois Ancestors. My husband and I live in the home built by Thomas Bennett, Jr. in 1903 located northeast of the Mann family plot. Thomas Bennett, Jr. was married to Catherine Mann, and the family plot is located in front of the Mann's family home. We have been trying to locate the grave of Thomas Mann, Jr. Could you offer any suggestions? We do know that Mr. Bennett later married his housekeeper, but from what we have found out, I'm not sure she would have spent the money for a headstone for him! Please write me at my e-mail address if you can think of anything we could do to discover more information. Thank you for your hard work and informative photos.

Thank you for documenting & taking pictures. I am involved in gathering as much information about my family as possible. I love the pictures you have taken, your hard work means a lot to my family and I. Thank you, -Tim Mann
