Cemetery Name: Johnson Hill Cemetery

Also Known as: Johnson Cemetery

Location:  Oakwood Township, located in Kickapoo State Park.

GPS Location 40.15820 -87.75060 (link to Google Map)

Description:  Johnson Hill Cemetery is located on Kickapoo State Park property - adjacent to Michael-Rutledge Cemetery. Sometimes both cemeteries together are called "Johnson Hill"

Pictures: I visited this cemetery twice. In February 2006, I visited this cemetery for the first time. Back then I took less quality pictures (640x480) [starting in 2007, I use 2048x1536 - resized to around 1024x768 for the website]. But I wanted to include those pictures because in July 2007, Johnson Hill Cemetery was vandalized and some stones were knocked over & damaged. So I wanted to include the pre-vandalized pictures. [UPDATE: I visited again in September 2008 and took a new round of pictures]

Pictures #1 - BEFORE Vandalism (Feb 2006): 54 pictures

Pictures #2 - AFTER Vandalism (Aug 2007): 87 pictures

Pictures #3 - Picture Update (Sept 2008): 176 pictures

Subject: Signage!

I've visited this cemetery on numerous occasions in the last few years. I'm very curious... why it's called Johnson Hill? From what I've seen, there's not one Johnson buried here!

This cemetery intrigues me! I don't know why! I visit this area a few times a year, and while I have no money to spare, I'd like to provide a service.

I'm a union carpenter, and I have a little bit of talent with my hands. I'd like, if I may to provide a new sign {hand engraved, to read... Johnson Hill...} and sign post for the entrance to the cemetery. Please advise of your approval, or not, at your convenience. Thank you!

Thank You!!!
