Subject: Who do I contact to visit this cemetery?

I am a decendent of the Hickman/Wolfe family and I would like to visit this cemetery on a trip I am taking near this area next week. Who do I need to contact to ask for permission?

Thanks for any information.

Dan

There is a house in front of the cemetery (off of N.750 East road), in which the cemetery is on (They keep the cemetery mowed and such) - so you should just ask at the house before going back to the cemetery. When I visited, the people living there were really nice, no problems in my visit.

Although I visited many Vermilion County cemeteries with my mother, Lena Cord Pritchard and her sister, Reva Cord Cumbow, we could never find the Hickman cemetery. Delighted to see the tombstones of Sarah and Jacob, they are my great great great grandparents. I believe Jacob came to Illinois in 1830 and purchased 1000 acres of land. Unfortunately the Hickman males died young and my great grandmother, Hannah Hickman at the age of ten, wrote a poignant letter describing her mother's and her own plight, as land poor with no living male to do the farming.

I have been researching my family history for years now. This collection of pictures is a Godsend and a treasure to me. I have wanted to find the Hickman cemetery and discover the family that I've been researching for so long. The pictures of Sarah and Jacob Hickman's tombstones are wonderful. They are my gggggreat-grandparents. Thank you for posting them online.
