Cemetery Name: Denmark Cemetery

Also Known As: Bailey Cemetery

Location:  Newell Township, Lake Vermilion

Approximate GPS Location 40.1608 -87.6416 (link to Google Map)

Description: Denmark Cemetery was located in the old town of Denmark, which was a main town in the early Vermilion County history. Denmark was located where the current Lake Vermilion now sits. If you continue west on Winter avenue when it meets Logan Ave., you would have ran into Denmark. Denmark cemetery was first used around 1835, with the last burial around 1902. Around 1924, Benjamin Collier, manager of Inland Supply, purchased the property the cemetery was on and the bodies that were buried here (at least those with headstones) were moved to Gordon Cemetery.
