Looking for grave of Mary Jane Wining Wood. Information indicates she was buried in Bethel Cemetery but it does not say which one. Date of death is April 22, 1909. Any information would be appreciated. Thank you. September 26, 2011 - 15:06

hi, ed is my grandfather. He would not speak of his family. Now, as I am growing older, I have an ache to find out who they were/are, and why he wouldn't tell us anything. April 05, 2011 - 10:07
Subject: Bethel church
The Bethel Church that you refer to is no longer there. When we went to the Bethel in September of 2009 and to the Cemetery, we noticed that the Church had been torn down. Our daughter has requested she be buried in the Cemetery (she has cancer) where her Thompson relatives rest. Since most of the Thompson's buried there are our family line, I am now searching for the parents of William, Thomas, George and Samuel , James (b. 1782) and his wife Betsy (May) Thompson (b. abt 1797) and she d. 11 Sept 1858 in Elwood, Love Twp, Vermilion Co. Ill. We thought they would be found in the Bethel Cemetery since it was on the Thomas Thompson's land but we have not found them as yet. Now, we are thinking that the Humrick/Collier might be the place to look next. I understand that it is not maintained and you need permission to go to the old cemetery. My question is, besides the Historical Society, is there anyone who would know the listing of people buried in the two cemeteries Bethel and Humrick/Collier that I could contact that might be able to help me find the information that I seek? I found the information that you provided with your photos of all the cemeteries very helpful and I wanted to Thank you for your efforts. We know how hard it is too photograph the old gravestones. Subject: Humrick Cem.
Have a copy of the names that were buried in the Humrick Cem, but I do not see any Thompsons. Last I heard there were very few stones in the cem., but what I have is: Kendalls, Sayer, Mc Daniel, Crowser, Watkins, Price,Wallace,, Cooper, Golliday, Hixon and Jones. This was copied from the Illiana Genealogy Society at Danville, Il. and was read by Mrs Erma Wasson. Don't have the date it was read, but apparently a few years ago, as they say there are only a very few stones there now. August 11, 2009 - 08:55
Subject: Original name of Cemetery
What a wonderful job it is to see this site. Since so many of my ancestors are buried here starting with Samuel Thompson, (and the McCleary's on my Mom's side of the tree) I was wondering if it was ever called the Thompson Cemetery as I recall someone saying the land was donated by the Thompson's. Thank you for doing this. It is a blessing to most genealogists and we appreciate all your efforts. Leave a Comment
