Cemetery Name: Jessee Cemetery

Location:  Crittenden Township, North-West of Villa Grove

GPS Location:  39.89387, -88.19759 (link to Google Map)

Description:  Jessee Cemetery was started around 1869. It is really strange with a line of stone along the North/South CR 1400 East road - and then some farmed area before you get to the rest of the cemetery. It's one of those curiousity things I would love to know why - maybe a church once stood where the farm land is?? Who knows. (if anyone knows, feel free to comment below.) I've created an image below that compares the area from a 1940 aerial photo with a more current satellite image just to see how the cemetery looked back in 1940. Looks like back then, the stones by the road were still more "connected" to the main part of the cemetery, but now days the area in between is farmed.
